Recognized by the Los Angeles Times as a
“master of light and shadow.”

Scott Dale is a Los Angeles–based cinematographic technologist and virtual production supervisor specializing in the intersection of camera systems, optics, and emerging production technologies. For more than three decades, he has collaborated with directors of photography, filmmakers, and production teams to solve complex visual challenges—from camera platform selection and lens strategy to optical design, mechanical integration, and in-camera visual effects workflows.Known for combining deep technical expertise with a cinematographer's understanding of image-making, Scott helps productions translate creative intent into practical, reliable, and innovative solutions long
before the first frame is captured.
Scott is a contributing author to the Visual Effects Society's Handbook of Virtual Production and an Associate Member of the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC).

Cinematographic Innovation

From camera platforms and lensing strategy to optical engineering and
virtual production workflows, Scott's work focuses on helping cinematographers
navigate complex technical decisions in service of the image.
His approach bridges emerging technology and traditional craft, supporting productions where precision, experimentation, and visual intent must work together.
